After a long lull with regards to Tamil content, SonyLIV is back to delivering interesting content for its subscribers from Tamil Nadu. SonyLIV has announced a new Tamil Original show, titled ‘SOS – Straight Outta Sunnambu Kaalvai’. The series comes from stellar Tamil filmmaker, Mari Selvaraj. This will be the OTT debut of Mari Selvaraj, shining light of Tamil cinema.
Interestingly, Mari Selvaraj has taken a 360 degree with ‘SOS – Straight Outta Sunnambu Kaalvai’, in the genre of content he’s mostly associated with. Unlike his well-known and extremely well-loved films Pariyerum Perumal, Karnan and Maamannan, ‘SOS – Straight Outta Sunnambu Kaalvai’ is a show centered on the world of hip-hop, a popular dance form with youngsters today. Mari Selvaraj’s films, on the other hand, are political dramas that shine a light on caste discrimination and dirty politics in the country.
‘SOS – Straight Outta Sunnambu Kaalvai’ is an intense drama that revolves around the struggles of two generations of hip-hop dance groups to build a dance studio in Sunnambu Kaalvai. The show will be a roller coaster of emotions, drama, passion, and of course, dance. Mari Selvaraj is the showrunner for ‘SOS – Straight Outta Sunnambu Kaalvai’. The series is written and directed by Suriya Raj and produced by Tuhin Menon under the banner of Asiaville studios.
