Veteran Hollywood filmmaker Martin Scorsese’s latest directorial venture – the Western crime drama ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ couldn’t exactly set the box office on fire. However, the star-studded film received widespread critical acclaim and the film’s lead actress Lily Gladstone has recently won the ‘Best Actress’ award at the Golden Globes.
Now, all eyes are on ‘The Departed’ director’s next film. It was previously announced that Martin Scorsese will be making a film about Jesus. And now, Martin Scorsese has revealed some interesting new details about his probable next film.
As per the latest update, Martin Scorsese is already done with writing the screenplay for his Jesus-centric film which is based on the book ‘A Life of Jesus’, written by Shusaku Endo. Moreover, he has also said that the movie’s filming schedule will kick-off later this year.
And the film is expected to have a runtime of just eighty minutes. And if that turns out to be true, then it could be the shortest feature film of Martin Scorsese’s directorial career. Another interesting aspect about the new Jesus movie is that it will be set during the present times and will ostensibly revolve around the core teachings of Jesus and not on a particular doctrine.
Some of you may already be aware that this is not the first time Martin Scorsese is directing a film based on the life of, or about Jesus. Back in the year 1988, he directed a film about Jesus titled ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’ and for which he also received an Oscar nomination.
Besides, some other Hollywood filmmakers have made films about Jesus Christ. The list includes ‘Mary, Mother of Jesus’ starring Christian Bale, ‘Mary Magdalene’ starring Joaquin Phoenix, and of course Mel Gibson’s highly rated film ‘The Passion of the Christ’, amongst other films. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on Martin Scorsese’s new Jesus movie.
