All MCU fans must already know that the ‘Captain America’ sequel titled ‘Captain America: New World Order’ is all set to release in theatres on 3rd May 2024 and will soon begin filming. Since a few months, an officially unconfirmed news about Harrison Ford starring in the next ‘Captain America’ movie as Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross have been doing the rounds.
And now, all the speculations have been laid to rest by Marvel boss Kevin Feige, who has recently spilled the beans (via EW) about Harrison Ford’s precise role in ‘Captain America: New World Order’. He has confirmed that the veteran actor will indeed be playing the role of Thunderbolt Ross.
Not just that, it has also been revealed by Kevin Feige that Harrison Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross will be the President of the United States of America in the highly anticipated film. And that the dynamic between Thunderbolt Ross and Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson / Captain America will be a core relationship in the film. Previously, the ‘Indiana Jones’ star had played the US President in the 1997 action flick ‘Air Force One’.
After making his debut as Thunderbolt Ross in the upcoming ‘Captain America: New World Order’ movie with a relatively smaller screen time, Harrison Ford will appear in a more substantial role in the subsequent Phase-5 MCU film ‘Thunderbolts’, which will release just a few months later. The dashing Oscar-nominated actor will replace Late actor William Hurt, who essayed the same role in earlier MCU films.
To be directed by Nigerian American filmmaker Julius Onah, the underlying premise of ‘Captain America: New World Order’ will ostensibly revolve around the effects of becoming the new Captain America on Anthony Mackie’s character Sam Wilson. Before featuring in Captain America: New World Order’ and ‘Thunderbolts’, Harrison Ford will star in another big-ticket film – James Mangold’s Indian Jones sequel titled ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’.
