Ms Marvel star Iman Vellani has disclosed that her character will lead the upcoming ‘Marvel Zombies’ series, which has received a TV-MA rating.
In a recent interview with The Direct, Vellani revealed that Kamala Khan would be the show’s Frodo, highlighting her as “the centre of the show”. She also expressed her excitement about working with different Marvel characters in the forthcoming MCU project.
It seems like everything is working in favour of Iman Vellani these days. Her vibrant and charming performance in ‘The Marvels’ was one of the best things about the latest Nia DaCosta directional. We can say that she carried the whole film. Yes, the movie tanked hard at the global box office. But Vellani stole all the spotlight in it.
Many theorists believe that Ms Marvel could become one of the most important figures in Phases 5 and 6. In the Disney+ Ms Marvel series, we witnessed the superhero on a journey of self-discovery. She ultimately learns what it means to be a superhero by the time we reach the show’s finale. And she got better and more mature in ‘The Marvels’.
We know that the complaints about the ongoing superhero fatigue and the MCU lacking a coherent thread to tie all of its recent offerings together have augmented significantly in recent times. It means that the superhero franchise needs a unique and refreshing approach to turn things around. One way Marvel could do that is to focus on the young blood, such as Ms Marvel. Thanks to Iman Vellani’s honest and adorable take on the superhero character, Ms Marvel (MCU) has gained a substantial fanbase. This scenario could benefit ‘Marvel Zombies’ in terms of viewership and storyline. In addition, she is a mutant. It will be interesting to witness how she uses her mutant abilities (her shape-shifting powers) to blend in apocalyptic settings and stays away from ‘heroes turned zombies’. Her mutant physiology may make her immune to the zombie apocalypse.
Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan has yet to learn a lot about her family’s history and powers. Her inclusion in ‘Marvel Zombies’ could mean more for the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe. Stay tuned for more updates.
