Ever since the announcement of the addition of Daredevil to the Marvel’s Echo series popped up, the MCU fanbase has gone berserk about the return of “The Devil of the Hell’s Kitchen”. Or should we say that they are thrilled about Charlie Cox’s return? Call it whatever you want. But this move from Marvel may end up hurting Alaqua Cox’s character rather than solidifying it in the franchise. How? Let’s check it out!
James Clement from The Weekly Planet recently revealed: “Daredevil is in [Echo] for three episodes, as in Charlie Cox. Kingpin, Vinnie D’Onofrio is in four. The Kingpin storyline is building up to him running for mayor of New York City. Apparently, he’s going to be wearing an eye patch because he was shot in the head in Hawkeye…”
“Daredevil is also going to be rocking a red and black suit and is looking for Jessica Jones,” Clement added.
Wait! What?
Yes, Daredevil might not be the only superhero appearing in the upcoming Disney+ Echo series. The rumours about Marvel laying the groundwork for Krysten Ritter’s character are soaring pretty high on social media. Fans have already witnessed Charlie Cox in the opening moments of Spider-Man: No Way Home. And we last saw Ritter in the third season of Netflix’s Jessica Jones.
There is no denying that the return of Charlie Cox and the MCU’s debut of Krysten Ritter is inevitable. But is Echo the perfect platform to execute this plan? Think about it. Alaqua Cox did a pretty good job in the Hawkeye series. She played Maya Lopez, a deaf but lethal commander of the Tracksuit Mafia, in the show. She is an expert in perfectly copying another person’s movements. Also, she had a “father-daughter” type relationship with Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio).
The trio of Cox, Ritter, and D’Onofrio may completely steal all the spotlight from the show’s protagonist. Alaqua’s Echo impressed many fans in Hawkeye. And she needs to cement her position in the MCU. However, the inclusion of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Kingpin may function as an obstacle in Echo’s path rather than uplifting her.
