It has to be Marvel’s year. Starting from January, till now Marvel has continuously released something or the other, be it series or movies, Marvel is doing its game. Marvel fans are rejoicing currently with, series every other month, it almost feels like a treat. Also, not to mention the return of the Marvel movies with the much-awaited Black Widow and the smashing release of Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. All of these have been absolutely epic and Marvel isn’t planning to stop anytime soon, as it already has Eternals scheduled for release in November. “Eternals” has to be one of its most ambitious projects and Marvel has quite a plan for it, for when it releases.
It has been revealed that Eternals will now exclusively release in theatres only. Disney and Marvel aren’t going to use the hybrid release technique that it has used for “Black Widow”, nor will they use a release-time window, like “Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings”. Eternals, which is scheduled for release on the 5th of November, will enjoy its time in the theatres, before it drops on OTT. India too will see the official release of Marvel’s Eternals on the 5th of November, a perfectly timed Diwali release.
The exclusive theatre release of Eternals only means that it won’t be arriving in Disney+ anytime soon after its release. It will be all up to the maker to declare a date for the OTT release. Eternals which stars a mega ensemble cast, directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao, is definitely a super ambitious project from Marvel. Seeing the success of Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings in the domestic and international Box Office, Marvel seems to have taken the right decision at the moment.
Many, though, have been claiming this to be a “Scarlett Johansson Effect”. The veteran Marvel actress recently filed a heavy lawsuit against Disney for the hybrid release technique that hampered her payment, which was already promised by the company. While many claim that this decision will help in reviving Box Offices in every market since Marvel has a heavy fan base all around the world. Also, Eternals is said to introduce a whole set of brand new superheroes into the MCU, that have been long present in the comics, so definitely expectation from the movie is sky-high.
So, for now, you can leave the idea of waiting and watching “Eternals” on OTT, as this Chloé Zhao directorial will definitely take its own sweet time to arrive on OTT. As for India, Eternals will release in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam on the 5th of November.
