In 14 days, we will get what seems to be our first-ever Marvel spin-off project ‘What If…?‘ which will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar. This Marvel web series will also be the first animated series (or project) to be a part of the MCU (AKA Marvel Cinematic Universe). While the trailer for this upcoming series suggests that this will be a show that will be looking at multiple realities simultaneously (we wonder if it has anything to do with how things ended at the end of ‘Loki’), we wouldn’t be surprised if this TV series ties in with the upcoming Spider-Man and Doctor Strange movies.
The premise of ‘What If…?’ is based on the Marvel comic book spin-off series of the same name. In this web series, we will get two major character changes – Agent Carter replaces Steve Rogers as the first successful super soldier to be created by Dr. Abraham Erskine’ and T’Challa replaces Peter Quill as Star-Lord. Both changes are significant and they will alter the course of history within the MCU, so it will be interesting (and fun) to see if these changes are to be set in a world within the multiple realities of the MCU or if it is just a spin-off project like its comic book counterpart.
Marvel’s ‘What If…?’ animated web series will premiere Disney+ Hotstar on August 11th 2021. The entire series will consist of 10 episodes, making it the biggest MCU series so far (based on the number of episodes), with episodes releasing weekly till October 13th.
