Master has been in the news for a long time now as it has set the stage ablaze and is one of those theatrical releases post-Covid that gave cinema owners some kind of respite after many of the big films had opted for a direct to OTT release.
Master which starred Vijay Thalapathy and Vijay Sethupathi in the main leads did more business than was expected as the audiences rushed to theatres to watch both the biggies in action on the big screen after a long time. Master then released on Amazon Prime on 29th January and netizens cannot stop talking about it ever since.
Despite all this hype, there have been no official streaming numbers released by the platform. Quite a few platforms refrain from giving out the numbers but how do you measure if a title is actually successful on a platform without any tangible figures to measure it by. To many, the numbers may just be part of an equation but it is still a very important number nonetheless.
Master released in several versions but the Kannada and Hindi audio are still not available to the viewers. There has been a great no of audiences who have streamed this movie in Tamil and Telugu. The Malayalam version is streaming too but there is not much hype about it. Therefore the Tamil and the Telugu audience consist of a major chunk of the viewership.
People are still upset about the fact that the Kannada and Hindi audio have not been released but the real question is, How do you judge a title without the numbers? We understand that the central theme of the movie and the way that it connected with the audiences is an important part of the film yet, How do you measure if a project has been a successful venture on the platform without knowing the total viewership of it?
