English actress Florence Pugh has been eyed for playing Princess Irulan, the eldest daughter of Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV in the upcoming sequel of “Dune”. If it gets confirmed then this would mark the reunion of this MCU star with actor Timothee Chalamet after their first movie “Little Women.”
Dune is a 2021 American science fiction/ adventure movie directed by Denis Villeneuve, and adapted from author Frank Herbert’s classic novel “Dune.”
The film follows as Paul Atreides (Chalamet), is thrust into war alongside the Fremen after his father accepted the stewardship of the barren and deadly planet Arrakis. They get into chaos while they try to free Arrakis from the clutches of House Harkonnen.
Princess Irulan Corrino is a pivotal character in this story, offering Pugh a prominent part in the sequel. According to the novels, Irulan falls in love with Paul Atreides as a part of his blueprint to become the galaxy’s next ruler. Though Princess Irulan plays an insignificant role in the first Herbert book, as the series progresses with time, she grows to prominence.
The sequel would also include the original cast- Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, and Javier Bardem. Part 2 is expected to start its production later this year and is set for October 2023 release.
Pugh would reprise the role of Yelena Romanoff in Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series “Hawkeye“, making it a big start of the year for her. As of now, she is shooting a role for Christopher Nolan‘s drama “Oppenheimer” starring Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Robert Downey Jr. alongside. She will also feature in Sebastian Lelio’s “The Wonder” and Olivia Wilde’s “Don’t Worry Darling”.
