With MCU’s Phase Five getting ready for its bombastic take-off with Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, there is one more entry that will have a massive impact on the upcoming phase after its release. Yup, we are talking about Florence Pugh starrer Thunderbolts. The antihero faction is one of the most prominent superhero groups in the comic book world. And MCU nerds cannot wait to watch them all on the big screen. Sounds exciting, isn’t it? But we have one more piece of news that may take you to a new level of ecstasy. Thunderbolts may secretly set up X-Men. How? Let’s find out!
According to several reports, Marvel has chosen a new villain for Thunderbolts. And that man is Kevin Plunder, aka Ka-Zar! Plunder was born to Lord Robert Plunder, an English nobleman and discoverer of the Savage Land. He lost his mother at a young age, and his father met a tragic death at the hands of ruthless Man-Ape natives of the Savage Land. Zabu, a superintelligent sabretooth tiger, raised him like a son, which explains the origin of his superhero name, Ka-Zar (Son of the Tiger). He taught Ka-Zar his ways and transformed him into an expert fisherman and hunter.

Ka-Zar first appeared in X-Men (or Uncanny X-Men) #10 comic book series, released in March 1965. The original X-Men team encountered Ka-Zar while exploring the Savage Land. Additionally, his adopter, Zabu, received his near-human intelligence via mutation after getting exposed to radioactive mist. We may see a different origin story of Marvel’s Tarzan in the MCU. But if ‘Thunderbolts’ decides to stick with the comics, X-Men will get a strong foundation before becoming part of the superhero franchise.
Ka-Zar doesn’t possess any superpowers. But his athleticism and unique combat style make him a dangerous adversary. He also carries various weapons, with a Bowie knife being his trademark weapon. Like Zabu, his physical abilities get enhanced as a result of living in an environment filled with radioactive mist. Furthermore, that dangerous mist has bestowed superhuman abilities on El Tigre and Maa-Gor in the comics.
Thunderbolts will release on July 26 next year. It features a stellar cast of Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Harrison Ford. Stay tuned for more updates.
