Peter Parker himself, Tom Holland, has offered a new update about MCU’s Spider-Man 4. Fans have been patiently waiting for the iconic web-slinger’s return on the big screen for a long time. The talks about Marvel Studios and Sony developing Spider-Man 4 have gained significant attention from fans in the last few days.
The absence of a release window for Spider-Man 4 has many fans wondering in which MCU Phase they will find the upcoming Tom Holland starrer. Plus, we do not have a director for the next Spidey instalment.
In a recent interview with Deadline, Holland offered a new update about his fourth solo Spider-Man film.
“We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect. The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing. This is the first time in this process that I’ve been a part of the creative so early. It’s just a process where I’m watching and learning.”
It seems like the production of Spider-Man 4 is in the early stages, as per Holland’s recent comments. His third solo Spider-Man project, No Way Home (2021) was indeed special, which also turned out to be a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience for many Marvel fans, thanks to Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.
Spider-Man 4 doesn’t need another multiversal story. Instead, it could create more impact through adhering to a more street level tone. All of Holland’s Spider-Man movies are outstanding in their own way. But they do lack the street-level elements that made Spider-Man so lovable among the Marvel audience. Peter’s actions in the last film made everyone forget who he is. This scenario gives him a perfect opportunity to write a completely new chapter of his life. Now, he can truly become the “Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man”.
Kevin Feige has confirmed that Daredevil and Spider-Man will play a key role in forming the MCU’s street-level world. Both were last seen together in No Way Home. But they were not in their superhero avatars. Considering their dynamics in the last film and comics, both could partner with each other in Spider-Man 4. Through Matt Murdock, Peter could learn more about the streets and the heroes who defend those streets from all sorts of danger. This scenario could also set up a future clash between Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin. Stay tuned for more updates.
