One more week is over in the Box office as this weekend has been a balanced one for the US box office. Some expectations have been crushed and some had an understanding run; the week was definitely not so strong as January usually has a sloth growth.
Mean Girls is still at the very top of the Box office, managing to gross $50M in the domestic box office. Also, this week, the film managed to gross $11.7M, doing ok-ish but is far from touching the success of the original title.
Mean Girls also sees a significant drop in terms of ticket sales, a whopping 59% drop. But with a small $36M budget, the numbers look fascinating.
And with no big releases this week, the Box Office rankings didn’t really change as The Beekeeper is still buzzy and stays at the second place. Though the domestic collection is already good, the international market is doing phenomenal.
Just in the domestic market, the action-packed film grossed $8.5M, and social media is giving it more fuel.
On the other hand, Wonka is showing no sign to stop with its delicious and chocolaty journey as the film grosses $6.4M and comes out as the most successful holiday title and completes one month run at the Box office.
Though the film started to be available on VOD in some countries, the Box Office is showing no intention to slow down.

Then comes Sony’s R-rated comedy Anyone But You, grossing the $100M mark in the global Box office and is going strong in the domestic Box office as well. In domestic numbers, $5.4M in the weekend looks really good.
On the other hand, Universal’s Migration is also setting up some benchmark for the animated films, $5.3M, and the domestic collection stands as high as $94.7M.
Aquaman 2, on the other hand, had a late bloom in the Box office as the film grossed $3.7M, and the entire domestic collection reached $114.2M. Like most Aquaman films, this edition also has far better international collections than the domestic run.
I.S.S. also comes out as the only new title in the bunch as the debutant grosses $3M. The space drama did create some buzz with its interesting trailer, and as time passes, we can see how much it can capitalize.
The eighth and ninth place have been occupied by Night Swim and Boys In The Boat, grossing $2.7M and $2.5M simultaneously.
Poor Things, on the other hand, manages to go strong, despite very limited release, it grosses $2M, and a lifetime grossing of $20.4M does look strong for such a film. The number might spike soon as the awards season is approaching.
Also continuing the trend of the success of concert films, Queen Rock Montreal managed to gross $2M on IMAX; the stats are indeed good but the social media response says that the moment is more valuable than the Queen is ruling over the hearts of the fans for years now.
