Meet Top 7 Characters Of HBO’s ‘House Of The Dragon’

Fire is just hours away from reigning! HBO’s House of the Dragon is standing near its worldwide premiere. And the fans of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ world are hoping that the upcoming GOT prequel will reach the heights of the original series. How about we try to know the most important characters of HOTD a bit better? Gaining extra knowledge about them before watching the pilot episode doesn’t sound bad. Right?

Here are the top 7 characters of HBO’s House of the Dragon!

King Viserys (played by Paddy Considine)

King Viserys is one of the kindest characters in the show. He was granted the Iron Throne after the demise of his grandfather, Jaehaerys. The Targaryen realm was at the zenith of its power when Viserys became the king of the Seven Kingdoms. His death became the foundation of the civil war. In other words, we can say all hell will break loose after his departure.

Otto Hightower aka Hand of the King (played by Rhys Ifans)

Viewers will see Otto Hightower’s journey of becoming one of the most powerful men in Westeros. He is a man who knows how to utilise his wisdom and knowledge. Also, he has served as ‘The Hand’ for three kings. However, he is not well-liked by everyone because of his arrogant and highly ambitious persona.

Corlys Velaryon (played by Steve Toussaint)

The greatest explorer in the history of Westeros! Corlys Velaryon, better known by his nickname ‘Sea Snake’, is the head of the House Velaryon. In addition to his wealth and power, Corlys was prominent for his thrilling sea-sailing adventures.

Rhaenys Targaryen (played by Eve Best)

Rhaenys Targaryen is Corlys Velaryon’s wife and King Viserys’ cousin. Once considered worthy of the Iron Throne, she was passed over as the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. Instead, his cousin, Viserys, was chosen to rule the realm. But this case did not break her true Targaryen spirit. Rhaenys was proud, strong-willed, and a skilled dragon-rider.

Alicent Hightower (played by Olivia Cooke)

Meet one of the cunning minds behind the Dance of Dragons, Alicent Hightower. Known as the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms, she is the daughter of Ser Otto Hightower. King Viserys wanted Rhaenyra to get the Iron Throne. However, Alicent wanted the throne for her son, Aegon. As a result, she shook hands with Ser Criston Cole and the small council to fulfil her desire.

Rhaenyra Targaryen (played by Emma D’Arcy)

Rhaenyra was a capable dragon-rider and the preferred heir of King Viserys. She deserved the Iron Throne. But thanks to Alicent Hightower, Westeros finds itself on the brink of a destructive civil war. This scenario prompts the princess to get her hands on the throne and become the first-ever queen regnant of the Seven Kingdoms.

Daemon Targaryen (played by Matt Smith)

Daemon Targaryen… a nasty piece of work! Yes, he was infamous for his dishonesty and rogue behaviour. But there was no match for his highly minacious swordsman skills during that time. Also, he never shied away from taking advantage of his love for Rhaenyra. Furthermore, he played a very important role in shaping the outcome of the Dance of Dragons.

Stay tuned to Binged for more updates on HBO’s House of the Dragon.
