Francis Ford Coppola’s passion project ‘Megalopolis’ has found More distributors In countries like Italy, Germany, and UK ahead of its Cannes premiere. The movie locked its distribution deal with French distributors Le Pacte at first.
There was a huge controversy when the movie was tagged as too experimental and not commercial enough by distributors in the USA. Coppola had been working on this movie for decades and it is a dream project for him. He wrote, directed and produced the movie himself. The movie had a huge budget of 100 million Dollars that he thinks is a big deal to match in a distribution deal. He tells the movie is more like a Roman epic set in modern America. Adam Driver plays a genius architect with powers to stop time who develops the city into a futuristic one.
Eagle Pictures, the Italian Distributors have said, “Adding ‘Megalopolis’ to Eagle’s roster is a dream come true. Not only has the greatest director of our time delivered a commercial film which perfectly fits our theatrical slate, it’s a groundbreaking cinematic experience.”
In other countries, the movie will be distributed by firms like Constantin Film, Tripictures, Entertainment Film Distributors. But fans still wait for the USA deal. There is still confusion about how the movie will be released in USA, and all eyes are on the Cannes screening. Many are hopeful that the film will finally be releasing in all countries after the Cannes screening.
