Acclaimed Hollywood actor and original ‘Mad Max’ hero Mel Gibson is all set to reportedly (via Deadline) star in an action thriller movie titled ‘Hot Seat’. And the filming is expected to commence in New Mexico from 1st November 2021. ‘Hot Seat’ has joined a list of forthcoming action-thriller films including ‘Wake’, Waldo’, ‘Panama’, ‘Bandit’, ‘Agent Game’, and ‘On the Line’ – all featuring Mel Gibson.
The film’s title ‘Hot Seat’ refers to the chair that has been planted with a bomb by an unknown person and the young man on the titular hot seat is a former hacker, who must break into a sophisticated banking system to save his life. That’s where Mel Gibson’s character comes into play as he must enter the booby-trapped building in a race against time to get the ex-hacker off the hot seat.
Based on a story by Leon Langford and Collin Watts, ‘Hot Seat’ is being directed by James Cullen Bressack. Bressack had previously directed films such as ‘Survive the Game’ starring Bruce Willis, ‘Hate Crime’, and ‘To Jennifer’, amongst others. His upcoming directorial is also an action thriller titled ‘Fortress’ starring Bruce Willis.
Regarding their creative collaboration with Mel Gibson, Randall Emmett, and George Furla, the co-producers of ‘Hot Seat’ had earlier stated (via Deadline) that “This is our third movie with Mel and we couldn’t be happier to continue the relationship with such an iconic and exceptional artist.”
‘Hot Seat’ is ostensibly another earnest attempt by Mel Gibson to revive his once-glorious acting career. The Academy award-winning Hollywood filmmaker first shot to fame by starring in the Mad Max film trilogy and further gained recognition in the well-received ‘Lethal Weapon’ film series. Subsequently, he directed the multiple Oscar-winning historical epic film ‘Braveheart’ in which he also played the lead role.
Mel Gibson’s forthcoming directorial projects were the controversial film ‘Passion of the Christ’, the action-adventure film ‘Apocalypto’, and the more recent World War II drama ‘Hacksaw Ridge’.
