American film director, producer, screenwriter, editor, cinematographer, and occasional actor, Ti West is best known for his work in horror films. He shot to fame with his slasher trilogy, ‘Pearl’, ‘X’, and most recently, the concluding installment ‘MaXXXine’. All parts star Mia Goth as the menacing doe-eyed leading lady.
‘MaXXXine’ is centered around Maxine Minx, an ever-aspiring actress en route to becoming an adult film star. She starts at the same place most famous people do: in horror movies. However, her plans are soon forced askew, when a serial killer dubbed commonly as ‘The Night Stalker’ begins haunting the streets of Los Angeles.
His starlet targets: models and actresses. And yet, Maxine is not fazed. The reason: she is hiding secrets of her own and is almost on the brink of a cinematic breakthrough that will make her wildest dreams of becoming a global sensation come true!
The film, also starring Halsey, Lily Collins, Elizabeth Debicki, Bobby Cannavale, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon, has debuted to a beyond-average score of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes! Albeit the fact that only 19 reviews have been published so far, Goth’s performance is being hailed as ‘breathtaking and exquisite’.
Many have described the film as not matching the level of its predecessors, too. All in all, the film seems to be entertaining audiences so far!
