Mikaela Hoover and Christopher McDonald have joined the cast of James Gunn’s Superman, the very first movie from the DCU. The filming is currently underway at Atlanta with David Corenswet starring as Clark Kent, aka Superman. Alongside the leading man, we will also see Rachel Brosnahan as popular Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane.
Recent castings for Superman have indicated that Gunn plans to fill out the entire Daily Planet newsroom. Hoover will play Cat Grant, the gossip queen of Daily Planet who likes Clark Kent very much. The character (created by Jerry Ordway and Marvel Wolfman) last appeared in CW’s Supergirl. Calista Flockhart portrayed the character in the CW series.
On the other hand, McDonald will play Ron Troupe in the upcoming DCU movie. Troupe is considered one of the best reporters in the newsroom. In the comics, he marries Lois’ sister, Lucy Lane.
Earlier this week, Beck Bennett also joined the next James Gunn movie as Steve Lombard, a selfish and blowhard reporter who remains jealous of Kent.
Gunn’s Superman will arrive in theatres worldwide on July 11, 2025. The rest of film’s cast includes talents like Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Anthony Carrigan, Nicholas Hoult, Wendell Pierce, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and more. Stay tuned for more updates.
