Just four days left for release, and Kriti Sanon‘s much-awaited Netflix and Jio Cinema film “Mimi” has been struck by a setback. There’s been a massive leak of the film through unknown sources. The consequence of this is that now every torrent and pirated films site has the full movie available for download, and that too in high quality HD print.
Another consequence of the leak of Mimi is that the film has just been released on both Netflix and Jio Cinema four days earlier than its expected release date. It’s quite obvious that this decision has been taken to stem the losses from the massive leak of the film online.
A simple search for “Mimi” on Google leads to instant results of tons of sites offering “Mimi full movie download”. And this right under the nose of authorities. In fact, no action has been taken as yet against the sites offering illegal download of the yet-to-release film. Mimi was apparently leaked early this morning, and it’s been almost 12 hours now, of it being available for download online. Mimi is also available for viewing on Telegram.
Interestingly, this is the first Netflix Original film to be leaked in such a way. The streaming giant is very particular that none of its content is leaked online before release. Hence, Mimi getting leaked, and in such massive proportions, is even more surprising. An important point to be noted is that hundreds of people have made use of the opportunity and have already watched Mimi online—yes, four days before release. The proliferation of Telegram means that the numbers—of people who have already watched Mimi—must be really high.
But now that the inevitable has happened, Netflix and Jio Cinema have taken concrete steps to reduce the losses arising out of the leak. The most doable and sensible option was to release the film straight away on both platforms. And that is what the powers at be have done. There is no point in waiting for four more days to release the film. Four more days of waiting to release Mimi on Netflix and Jio Cinema meant four more days of its easy and illegal availability on piracy sites; and four more days of even more people watching the film before its official release.
So now that Mimi has released on Netflix and Jio Cinema, watch and enjoy it now!
