Universal has confirmed the release window of Minions 3, following the outstanding box-office performance of Despicable Me 4. The latest Illumination project has grossed over $269 million globally so far.
Minions 3 is set to arrive in theaters worldwide on June 30, 2027. Pierre Coffin (one of the primary voices of Minions) will helm this one. He has also co-directed the first three Despicable Me movies. Brian Lynch will write the script, whose writing credits include “Minions” and “The Secret Life of Pets”.
Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri will produce the movie alongside Bill Ryan, producer of “The Super Mario Bros. Movie”.
The Despicable Me franchise will soon cross the prestigious $5 billion mark, thanks to Despicable Me 4. It is the 15th highest grossing movie franchise and the highest grossing animated movie franchise of all time.
Since its inception in 2010, the Despicable Me franchise has established itself as one of the tentpole entries for both Universal and Illumination. The production house has also planned to release the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie on April 3, 2026. The duo of Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath will return to helm the sequel.
