The Tamil action thriller, ‘Mission: Chapter 1’, helmed by AL Vijay and starring Arjun Vijay is finally ready to enter the OTT realm via Amazon Prime Video and will release at 12am tonight, March 15th, 2024. After more than 8 weeks of its theatrical debut, its arrival on digital platforms encountered certain delays owing to its lacklustre performance at the box office.
Production for Mission: Chapter 1 was overseen by Lyca Productions, but faced hindrances in bagging lucrative deals with OTT platforms, and its underwhelming performance at the box office could be to blame for this. In a domain where the film’s success is obviously a deciding criteria for whether a platform must approach to buy the streaming rights for a film, it can be safely said Mission: Chapter 1 did not meet that criteria.
Arun Vijay had taken to social media recently, stating that he was not aware regarding the OTT situation for the movie and for a while it seemed SunNXT was the frontrunner for securing its rights.
