Actress Rebecca Ferguson, who is well known for essaying the role of an MI6 agent in Tom Cruise’s blockbuster franchise films ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ and ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’, is reportedly set to star in an Apple TV+ dystopian drama series titled ‘Wool’, as per a recent press release by the streaming giant.
The science fiction series ‘Wool’ is reportedly based on Hugh Howey’s bestselling trilogy of science fiction novels and will be written for the screen by Graham Yost. Yost is known for writing in the 1990s blockbuster films like ‘Speed’ (starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock) and John Woo’s ‘Broken Arrow’ (starring John Travolta and Christian Slater). He is also known for his work in the highly-rated miniseries ‘Band of Brothers’ and the more recent television series ‘Justified’.
The original story of the upcoming series was set in a post-apocalyptic world, where humanity survives in a city built many stories under the earth’s surface. One of the principal characters of the story was that of ‘Juliette’ (which is being played by Rebecca Ferguson), who will ostensibly be portrayed as a hardworking and independent engineer in the upcoming Apple TV+ series.
While ‘Wool’ will be directed by Morten Tyldum, who had previously helmed another science fiction film called ‘Passengers’ (starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence) besides having directed Apple TV+ acclaimed miniseries ‘Defending Jacob’ (starring Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery and Jaeden Martell).
The Apple TV+ series is purportedly also being executive produced by the featuring actress Rebecca Ferguson, series writer Graham Yost, its director Morten Tyldum and the novel’s author Hugh Howey.
‘Wool’ seems to be another feather in Apple’s cap as it adds to the streaming giant’s stellar list of original television series including ‘Lisey’s Story’, ‘Five Days at Memorial’, ‘The Shrink Next Door’, and ‘Ted Lasso’, amongst others.
