Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham is one of the most keenly awaited films on OTT for film buffs. The film stars Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, and had released in theatres on 2nd December. While die-hard Mohanlal fans trooped down to the theatres to watch the action drama on the big screen, Covid-19 fears kept a lot of people away from theatres. They’ve been patiently waiting for Marakkar to premiere on OTT, so that they can watch the movie in the safety of their homes.
Well, your patience has been rewarded. Marakkar is set to release on Prime Video on 17th December, barely two weeks after its theatrical release. A 2-week theatrical window for such a big film is an anomaly, but not when you consider the fact that Marakkar had been in danger of skipping theatres altogether and going straight to digital.
Fans’ demands for a theatrical release for the film, intervention of various films bodies and Mohanlal himself ensured that Marakkar hit the big screen, if only for two weeks. And now, those who didn’t catch the film in theatres can watch it on Prime Video on 17th December. Marakkar will release on Prime Video in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
