Universal has unveiled a bloody and action-packed trailer for Monkey Man, starring Dev Patel. The film also marks the actor’s feature directional debut. In addition, he has co-produced the project with ‘Get Out’ fame Jordan Peele.
Patel’s upcoming film was supposed to arrive on Netflix initially. But thanks to Jordan Peele, he realised the director’s vision for the film, inspiring him to lay the foundation for the film’s theatrical release.
Monkey Man revolves around a recently released ex-felon who seeks vengeance against the guys who killed his mother and are notorious for tormenting the powerless and the poor. The movie takes inspiration from the legend of Hanuman, a Hindu deity who symbolises courage and strength. In the latest clip, we see Patel’s character taking part in underground fights to earn cash for a living. We also watch the actor wearing a gorilla mask while competing against other fighters.
The trailer proves that the film’s action will be wild and bloody, just like Keanu Reeves’ John Wick movies. We can see Patel breaking bones, stabbing bad men, and smashing their heads with bottles in the clip.
Apart from helming the film, Dev Patel also wrote the story for Monkey Man. The film’s supporting cast consists of Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Sikandar Kher, Sobhita Dhulipala, Makarand Deshpande, and more. It will arrive in theatres globally on April 5, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates. Check out the trailer below!
