Marvel’s latest television series ‘Moon Knight’, which premiered on 30th March, had concluded yesterday as it aired its final episode on the Disney Plus Hotstar OTT platform in India. The series has got a thumbs up from both the audiences and critics. This is evident from the fact that ‘Moon Knight’ currently holds a Rotten Tomatoes critics score, and an audience score of 87% and 93%, respectively. Moreover, the MCU show has also received a decent IMDb user rating of 7.6.
Considering the widespread acclaim for the series, talks about a potential ‘Moon Knight’ second season have been doing the rounds of late. In a recent interview, the series’ lead director and executive producer Mohamed Diab talked about the likelihood of a second season. And here’s what he had said:
“We don’t know if there’s a next season. Marvel doesn’t go with a conventional way, so even if they like the character and want to extend the world, it could be season 2, it could be a standalone film, or he can join another superhero’s journey. I’m kept in the dark, just like the fans.”
This means that the newest Marvel superhero can make an on-screen appearance in either ‘Moon Knight Season 2’, a separate movie based on the character, or he could join hands with other MCU characters. However, it seems that nothing is officially confirmed about Moon Knight’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe until now.
Some time back, even the show’s lead actor Oscar Isaac had said that currently there are no plans for a second season of the ‘Moon Knight’ series. But at the same time, he had also not denied the possibility of the same and remarked that he would be happy to be a part of another ‘Moon Knight’ project provided that the story is good.
The six-part show ‘Moon Knight’ revolves around a mercenary and ex-US marine named Marc Spector aka Moon Knight (played by Oscar Isaac). He is suffering from dissociative identity disorder condition and is bestowed with the powers of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. The series also features Ethan Hawke as a cult leader and May Calamawy as an archaeologist and Mark Spector’s wife.
