Most Anticipated Hollywood Film Releasing in Indian Cinemas This Week

By Binged Bureau - Oct 19, 2021 @ 05:10 pm
Most Anticipated Hollywood Film Releasing in Indian Cinemas This Week

The coming Friday of October month will witness four eagerly anticipated Hollywood movies releasing in Indian theatres. So, we thought of doing a comparative analysis to ascertain the most anticipated film amongst these Hollywood movies releasing in Indian cinemas this week.

But how do we precisely quantify the anticipation around a film just before its release? One way is to observe the total number of views for the film’s official trailer released on YouTube. Another parameter can also be the number of likes (or dislikes) for the film’s trailer.

But since we can consider just one, we have taken into account the total number of trailer views (at the time of writing this article) for the Hollywood film, to ascertain the most anticipated Hollywood films slated for a theatrical release this Friday, in Indian cinemas.

These film trailers were released at different points in time, and we have used total trailer views to get an idea about the film’s current buzz. And in case there were two trailers of the same title, we have considered the more recent one to roughly determine the recent buzz.

4. The French Dispatch

Trailer Views: 4 lakhs

About the film: The film is helmed by ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ director Wes Anderson. It purportedly revolves around several plotlines based on stories published in the French Dispatch magazine. The film boasts an ensemble cast including Frances McDormand, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Bill Murray, Christopher Waltz, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Benicio Del Toro, Owen Wilson and Elizabeth Moss.

3. Dune

Trailer Views: 30.4 lakhs

About the film: The sci-fi film ‘Dune’ has been helmed by Denis Villeneuve, who is well known for directing other critically acclaimed science fiction movies namely ‘Arrival’ and ‘Blade Runner 2049’. Set in the far future, the film follows the young protagonist (played by Timothée Chalamet) and his journey to the dangerous desert planet called Arrakis aka Dune. The planet is known to possess the most precious substance in the called melange.

2. The Last Duel

Trailer Views: 63.8 lakhs

About the film: Virtuoso filmmaker Ridley Scott’s directorial is based on real life events revolving around France’s last sanctioned duel. When the wife (Jodie Comer) of a courageous knight Jean de Carrouges (Matt Damon) accuses his best friend-turned-foe Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver) for assaulting her, Carrouges challenges Jacques to a duel. The film also stars Matt Damon’s real-life best friend Ben Affleck.

1. Halloween Kills

Trailer Views: 88.8 lakhs

About the film: Directed by David Gordon Green, the film is a sequel to the 2018 slasher horror movie ‘Halloween’ and continues the story arcs of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney).

So, as you can see, the upcoming horror movie ‘Halloween Kills’ has surprisingly surpassed both ‘The Last Duel’ and ‘Dune’ in terms of the total number of official trailer views (released recently). However, it is noteworthy that since it is based on the criteria of considering the film’s latest trailer and not the older ones with the most trailer views, this might have affected the actual anticipation factor around the film.
