The first 2 episodes of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel are now streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video. Regular viewers of the show were excited as these episodes were dropped hours earlier than their scheduled release date and time.
The first two episodes were scheduled to drop on 18th February 12:00 AM GMT (5.30 AM IST). However, fans to their pleasant surprise found that the episodes were available at least 6 to 8 hours earlier than expected.
For the previous 3 seasons, Prime Video had dropped all episodes of the season at the same time for audiences to binge watch. However, for the fourth season, it has released only the first 2 episodes with 2 new episodes being released every Friday. The season has a total of 8 episodes. The comedy drama premiered in 2017 with its previous season released in December 2019. As was the case with most shows, production for the show was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic which resulted in a long break between seasons.
Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls), it stars Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a New York housewife who discovers she has a knack for stand-up comedy and pursues a career in it. It also stars Alex Borstein, Michael Zegen, Marin Hinkle, Tony Shalhoub, Kevin Pollak, Caroline Aaron and Jane Lynch.
The series was one of the first breakout shows for Amazon’s streaming service. In 2017, it won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. Brosnahan won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2018 and two consecutive Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy in 2018 and 2019. The show has won 20 Emmy awards with 54 nominations in its first three seasons, including Outstanding Comedy Series.
Amazon Studios, on 17th February ahead of the show’s season 4 release, announced that it has greenlit the fifth season of the show. This is supposed to be the final season of the show and production for it is already underway in New York City. Release date for the final season has not been announced, yet. Given the popularity and success of the show, fans will be disappointed to see the show end.
