‘Toofaan’ actress Mrunal Thakur earlier today took to Twitter to express her excitement as she has joined the cast of the Hindi remake of Tamil hit film ‘Thadam’. The yet-untitled Hindi remake stars Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead role. Mrunal Thakur will be essaying the role of a police officer in the film that will feature her face-off with the lead actor.
It was previously reported that Sidharth Malhotra was initially considered for the lead role, however, eventually Aditya Roy Kapur was roped in for the project. In the original 2019 action thriller film ‘Thadam’, the lead role was played by Arun Vijay. Tamil hit film ‘Thadam’ revolved around a police investigation into a murder case in which two lookalike suspects are arrested on the basis of photographic evidence.
On the lines of the original film, Aditya Roy Kapur for the first time will be seen playing a double role for this film. After the not so encouraging audience and critical response for Aditya Roy Kapur’s 2020 film ‘Sadak 2’, ‘Thadam’ Hindi remake would certainly be an important film for the talented actor to prove his mettle.
The filming of ‘Thadam’ Hindi remake is scheduled to kick off in Delhi next month in October. Besides ‘Thadam’ remake, Aditya Roy Kapur’s upcoming film project includes an action thriller movie ‘Om – the Battle Within’. While Mrunal Thakur will next be seen in Ram Madhvani’s ‘Dhamaka’ (co-starring Kartik Aaryan) and Shahid Kapur starrer sports drama ‘Jersey’. The actress is currently busy shooting for the 1971 Indo-Pak war-based film ‘Pippa’.
‘Thadam’ Hindi language remake would be Vardhan Ketkar’s directorial debut and is being produced by Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani. Earlier, ‘Thadam’ was also remade in the Telugu language with the title ‘Red’. It will be interesting to see how the Hindi remake turns out to be.
