UCP has started developing a crime series depicting the crime story of the Murdaughs. The family is one of the most prominent legal families in the South Carolina region of the US. The upcoming show will revolve around the ‘Murdaugh Murders’ apart from focusing on important elements like strength, money, fraud, local family melodrama, politics, and drugs related to the scenario. It is currently under development at UCP, one of the divisions of Universal Studio Group.
Locke & Key fame Michael D. Fuller and Erin Lee Carr are set to develop, write, and produce the series. The show will take inspiration from Mandy Matney’s podcast: “Murdaugh Murders Podcast”. Additionally, Matnry is serving as one of the executive producers of the show along with ‘Eat the Cat’ production company. Plus, various media reports have revealed the involvement of some of Alex’s family members in two mysterious deaths. Also, the officials are yet to discover the cause of his housekeeper’s death.
Fuller is best known for his work in Quarry (2016), Locke & Key (2020), and Rectify (2013). On the flip side, Carr has helmed several popular documentaries like Thought Crimes: The Case of the Cannibal Cop (2013), Mommy Dead and Dearest (2017), Britney vs Spears (2021), and many more.
