Maverick filmmaker Quentin Tarantino burst into the collective consciousness of film-goers with his 1994 hit film, ‘Pulp Fiction‘. Of course, he had made ‘Reservoir Dogs’ before that. But it was Pulp Fiction that really established him as a filmmaker of eminence and substance. The film has now attained cult status, with true blue film buffs swearing by its filmmaking and storytelling credentials.
Much to the disappointment of film enthusiasts in India, Pulp Fiction has been missing from the streaming scene for the longest time. The film has been sorely missed on OTT by every kind of movie-watcher – be it old-school film-lovers, with their entrenched movie-watching habits, looking to revisit Pulp Fiction for nostalgia sake; or new entrants to the world of compelling cinema, for whom Pulp Fiction is essential watching.
But aficionados of good cinema need despair no more. For ‘Pulp Fiction’ is finally streaming in India – on Netflix! After ‘The Usual Suspects and Scarface’, this is another cult film that Netflix has been kind enough to bring to streaming for its Indian subscribers.
‘Pulp Fiction’ is the second film in Quentin Tarantino’s stellar filmography. It stars John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Tim Roth, Ving Rhames and Uma Thurman in pivotal roles. Pulp Fiction won the Palme d’Or at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival. The film centres on the underworld in Los Angeles, where a series of incidents intertwines the lives of two mobsters, a gangster’s wife, a boxer and two small-time criminals.
