MX Player‘s gritty crime drama ‘Raktanchal’ is set to return with a new season on the platform. This afternoon, MX Player unveiled the first teaser and look at Raktanchal 2, revealing interesting new additions to the cast of the series. MX Player hasn’t revealed a release date for Raktanchal 2 yet.
Raktanchal is a crime drama set in the backdrop of Purvanchal, the gangster-infested Eastern part of Uttar Pradesh. The region was once notorious for spawning dreaded gangsters in every era of the last century. It includes the perilous areas of Mirzapur, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Gazipur and more. Lwlessness reigned and even the police turned a blind eye to the marauding illegal activities of the various gangs of the region. MX Player’s Raktanchal centres on two rival crime lords who will stop at nothing to gain the upper hand. Central to the plot is the notorious tender syndicate that makes money by snagging the tenders to the infrastructure development taking place in the region. They are also called the tender mafia for that reason.
Nikitin Dheer plays Waseem Khan, the undisputed king of Purvanchal. Kranti Prakash Jha plays Vijay Singh, challenger to the throne of the tender king. The plot shifts to politics this season, with the crime lords entering the political arena to realise their sinister plans.
Raktanchal Season 1 had ended on an interesting note with a prominent cast member presumed dead. Without giving spoilers, let’s say Raktanchal 2 will see all the prime stakeholders returning to reprise their roles. Besides Nikitin Dheer and Kranti Prakash Jha, Raktanchal stars Soundarya Sharma, Ronjini Chakraborty, Chittaranjan Tripathy, Pramod Pathak, Vikram Kochhar, Krishna Bisht and Basu Soni in prominent roles.
Ashish Vidyarthi, Mahie Gill, Mukesh Bhatt and Karan Patel join the cast of Raktanchal 2. It is quite obvious from the teaser that they will be up to no good in the goings-on.
Raktanchal 2 is directed by Ritam Srivastav. He had also directed Raktanchal Season 1. The series is apparently based on real life events.
