India is a land that is filled with a lot of cultural heritage and we can learn a lot about its varying traditions from the vast richness of the mythological characters and stories that it possesses. The OTT space has given filmmakers the guts and resources to take bigger risks and create some larger-than-life projects, especially when it comes to depicting the mythical part of our history as a nation.
MX Player has recently announced an original web series named ‘Ramyug,’ which will be based on the Ramayana. The teaser announcement has got the crowd excited as it has a rendition of the hanuman Chalisa which was voiced by none other than Mr. Amitabh Bachchan himself. Ramyug will be directed by Kunal Kohli, who has also previously helmed projects for OTT like ‘Lahore Confidential.’
The special track that was used in the teaser announcement was voiced by Amitabh Bachchan, with the tabla being played by Ustad Zakir Hussain and the track being composed by Rahul Sharma.
Kunal Kohli announced in 2018 that he would be working on a project based on the epic ‘Ramayana.’ Now we do not know whether this was converted to a web series looking at the current landscape but nonetheless exciting news for all the viewers out there.
MX Player has been showing some great willingness for unique and experimental content with a huge focus on homebred local stories. They are also one of the few digital platforms in India that have created an interactive title for its viewers.
There is no confirmed release date for Ramyug, but it should be available soon on MX Player.
