Last year was a mixed one for Naga Chaitanya as two of his three films bombed at the box office. The actor is now set for ‘Custody’, his first film this year and doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned to create the much needed hype around the film. Helmed by Venkat Prabhu, ‘Custody’ will release in cinemas on 12th May, 2023.
To announce the teaser reveal date the makers have launched a teaser tease video for ‘Custody’ that begins from the clouds and then dives in a river where Naga Chaitanya dressed in a police uniform, is seen deep under water caged inside a small cell. He then opens and comes out with a wink and smile.
Launching a teaser for the teaser, now that’s taking marketing too seriously. While it was just a small under a minute video, teaser date announcement could have been done with a poster as well. This is to probably create buzz around the film and get people excited for it but going so out of the way isn’t that necessary. After all films with good content will sell themselves no matter what.
Though there’s no harm in such attempts but it will all be worth only when ‘Custody’ lives upto the expectation. Also, with almost two months for release makers have already announced that teaser will be out on 16th March. Will this early teaser launch work in their favour or will the viewers be over it much before the theatrical release, given such a long gap?
In addition to Naga Chaitanya, ‘Custody’ stars Krithi Shetty as the female lead and Arvind Swami playing the antagonist. Other cast members include Sarath Kumar, Priyamani, Vennela Kishore and Premgi Amaren. The film has onboard musical maestro Ilayaraaja who along with his son Yuvan Shankar Raja will compose music for the film.
‘Custody’ marks the first association of Naga Chaitanya and director Venkat Prabhu and is produced by Srinivasaa Chitturi under his Srinivasaa Silver Screen banner. ‘Custody’ will release in theatres on 12th May, 2023 and the teaser will be out on 16th March, 2023.
