Naga Shaurya’s ‘Krishna Vrinda Vihari‘ was released in theatres after much anticipation after being postponed numerous times due to the pandemic on 23rd September 2022. Unexpectedly the film has already announced that it has sold its post-theatrical rights to the OTT biggie Sony Liv.
The fun-filled entertainer is directed by Anish R. Krishna and produced by Usha Mulpuri under the banner of Ira Creations. The film besides Naga Shaurya also stars Bollywood singing sensation Shirley Setia, with the film being her Telugu debut.
The film follows the life of Krishnamachari played by Naga who comes from an orthodox Brahmin family. He falls in love and marries his team lead Vrinda played by Shirley but she is not the perfect wife his family expects him to have wed. She is brought up in a modern household and the events that ensue after the marriage and how Krishna has to juggle between his traditional mother and modern wife is what the movie goes on about.
The romantic comedy movie was met with mixed reviews from critics. The script and the unnecessary and exaggerated fight scenes were criticized while the cast’s performance and the comedy received praise. Some viewers however described it as being a similar version of the recently released ‘Ante Sundaraniki’ starring Nani and Nazriya Nazim.
Sony Liv is known for selecting good content so it will be safe to say irrespective of the reviews, Krishna Vrinda Vihari will be worth a watch. Unlike critics, viewers seem to be reacting more positively to the film. Naga’s last film was Lakshya alongside Jagapathi Babu, Ketika Sharma, and Sachin Khedekar which was released last year. While the Pushpa juggernaut affected its theatrical business, the film was met with positive reviews.
The film also stars Rahul Ramakrishna, Satya, Vennela Kishore, Brahmaji, and the ever brilliant Radhika Sarthkumar and is currently running in theatres.
