Actress Natalie Portman is all set to make her debut on streaming TV with a limited series for Apple TV Plus, titled ‘Lady In The Lake’. The series will also star Lupita Nyong’o as the parallel lead. The Apple TV Plus series is an adaptation of Laura Lippmann’s best-selling novel of the same name.
Both Natalie Portman and Lupita Nyong’o have won Academy Awards previously, for Black Swan and 12 Years A Slave respectively. Their appearance in the Apple TV Plus series, facing off against each other, sounds like an interesting proposition.
Set in 1960s’ Baltimore, Natalie Portman plays housewife Maddie Schwartz, who gets into investigative reporting in the wake of an unsolved murder. Her new identity sees her facing off against Cleo Sherwood (Lupita Nyong’o), a Black progressive agenda activist, and a mother like herself.
Lady In The Lake will be directed by director Alma Har’el (Honey Boy). Har’el is also credited as writer of the series, along with writer Dre Ryan (The Man In The High Castle). Lady In The Lake is produced by Jean-Marc Vallée’s Crazyrose, Bad Wolf America and Endeavor Content.
