After super successful Sarpatta Parambarai in 2021 that had a direct digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video, Pa Ranjith is back to cinemas with his latest film titled ‘Natchathiram Nagargiradhu’. The team of the film released its first official first look just now with a tag-line ‘Love is Political’.

They say, first impression is the best impression. And in this case we agree. Natchathiram Nagargiradhu has clearly made a splash with its official first look. The first look is very creative and so aesthetic to look at. Although the graphical pattern of the poster is quite similar to the ones we’ve been seeing off-late like Everything Everywhere All at Once, Gold etc, but there’s much attention paid to the details in here unlike the former posters.
Dushara Vijayan, the female lead of the film has her hair coloured blue. We all know how Blue has always been a strong protagonist in itself in Ranjith’s films. Blue denotes Ambedkarism and Dalit Resistance. One could see this in Ranjith’s Madras and Kaala very prominently. Every other character in the film including the male lead Kalidas Jayaram, revolves around Blue – aka Dalit resistance. One could also see few LGBTQ characters in the poster signalling at the fact that Ranjith’s political story of love is for all oppressed minorities.
Although nothing much is known about the plot of the film, very evidently from the tagline the film is a love-story. But with the first look out and several characters surrounding Dushara Vijayan’s blue haired centre-placed cut-out, it looks like the film is not just another love story. It is a known fact that Ranjith has a good knack in writing love-tracks in his films. So there’s much more of romance to look forward to in this out and out love-story from him.
‘Natchathiram Nagargiradhu’ features Kalidas Jayaram and Dushara Vijayan in lead roles along with Kalaiarasan, Harikrishnan and Shabeer Kallrakkal aka ‘Dancing Rose’ of ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’. The music is composed by debutant Tenma and is bankrolled by Ranjith’s Neelam Productions and Yaazhi Films. The release date and more details on the film are not yet. Stay tuned for more updates.
