Ever since Netflix released a beautifully crafted monochrome video regarding Navarasa’s streaming date announcement, the makers are working diligently to promote their upcoming anthology series. The series purportedly features nine standalone stories that are based on the age-old Indian concept of Navarasa (nine human emotions).
Although the much-anticipated Tamil language web series’ crew primarily comprises directors and actors mainly from the Tamil film industry, its release on the Netflix OTT platform shows the makers’ willingness to target a wider pan-India audience.
What’s a bit surprising is that majority of the interviews for Navarasa that are available on the public domain can be viewed by mainly Tamil audiences. Besides an interview on leading entertainment portal Filmcompanion and perhaps a few others, not many print interviews or video interviews could be easily found that can be watched by audiences who understand English or Hindi or other Indian languages.
Navarasa is undoubtedly an ambitious venture created by the legendary duo Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan. The short films have been helmed by eminent directors including Priyadarshan, Karthik Subbaraj, Vasanth, Arvind Swami, Bejoy Nambiar, Karthick Naren, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Sarjun KM, and Rathindran R. Prasad. And the web series features accomplished performers like Suriya, Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swami, Siddharth, Revathi, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and many other talented actors.
Since the audiences are all eagerly looking forward to watching the series, accordingly the digital promotions should also include content that can be enjoyed by viewers who understand English, Hindi, or other Indian languages.
Diehard cinephiles are quite thrilled and super curious to know more about Navarasa and what the makers have to say about the series before its release. So, it’s only natural to expect promotional content that covers a wider pan-India audience rather than the interviews being confined to viewers belonging to a particular region.
Navarasa is scheduled to release on the Netflix streaming platform from August 6, 2021, onwards. Prospective viewers are waiting with bated breath in what could prove to be a game-changing Indian content that is entertaining, heart-warming, and profound in equal parts.
On the other hand, the Indian audiences also want to become aware and be an integral part of the series’ promotional material and to witness its brilliance in totality, in order to make Navarasa a more enjoyable experience for them.
