NeeStream is a regional OTT which has been recently in the news for all the right reasons. This primarily Malayalam projects-only releasing OTT has gathered up quite a following among the Malayali film-going crowd (and quite a few non-Malayali Mollywood fans as well). NeeStream has now picked two big projects to stream on their platform – a movie called Thirike and a web series called Instagrammam.
Thirike is a much anticipated movie which will show the relationship of two brothers who grew up orphaned. The story follows a young man named Ismu, who has Down Syndrome and shows us how he interacts with his younger brother. The George Kora co-directed comedy-drama carries the message that a person with disabilities should not be looked down upon, instead they should be celebrated. George and Gopikrishnan will star in the lead roles alongside Shanthi Krishna, Gopan Mangad and Sarasa Balussery.
Instagrammam is another big series that has been looking to come out on OTT since its production was finished last year. It was aiming to be the first Malayalam web series (which did not come out on YouTube first), but narrowly lost out to Archana Kavi’s Pandaraparambil House at 801 which is currently streaming on ManoramaMax. But after the pandemic slowed down film production all around the world, and the lack of interest/ demand for a Malayalam web series from any OTT platform, the fact that Instagrammam got picked up is a big achievement in itself. The 10 episode comedy web series will follow a group of people from a fictional place called Andippara who are preparing for an upcoming festival. As their appetite for the upcoming festivities increase, hilarity ensues in the village.
After the release of the critically loved and movie-fans appreciated, family drama, The Great Indian Kitchen on NeeStream, which was allegedly rejected by both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, the OTT streaming platform saw a steady rise in followers. With the January 29th release of another highly appreciated film, Vaanku, NeeStream got even more subscribers. And recently NeeStream expanded its base to be a globally available platform, making it readily available for anyone around the world. This also makes NeeStream the first OTT streaming platform to provide global streaming service in the Malayalam language.
NeeStream also allows the streaming of major Malayalam TV channels on its platform such as Asianet, Kairali, JanamTV, Kerala VISION, etc. NeeStream also offers a variety of original content such as talk shows, food & cooking programs and news as well as older Malayalam movies on demand.
The aforementioned The Great Indian Kitchen and Vaanku is currently streaming on NeeStream.
Thirike will be available for streaming from February 26th on NeeStream.
Instagrammam will also premiere on NeeStream in February , but a final release date has yet to be announced.
