This movie is definitely not for the weak-hearted. ‘Animal,’ just like the title, will leave the audience wild: some appreciating the bloodshed, looking for what’s next, and some wishing to see the end-credits finally on their screen. Be it the screen time or gory fight scenes, ‘Animal’ surely makes the whole body numb.
‘Animal’ saw its digital debut on Netflix today (January 26) and it is available to watch in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Amid the commentaries from viewers, some were not satisfied with the film, and have dropped negative comments about the film on their social media handles. The main concern of some viewers is just more than the portrayal of violence.
Apart from a glorified tale of revenge, the movie seems to be a mere potpourri of hero’s daddy issues, show-off of alpha-male definition and misogynist remarks, which, all together, appear to be larger than the runtime. It took immense courage (and test of patience) for a few to cross at least the first half an hour, and thankfully, the lucky ones had their medications for headache come in handy.
All fierce and no romance might make a film a dull one. Abiding by this ‘rule’, Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga took the best of both worlds in Animal, just like what he did with Arjun Reddy. Although ‘Animal’ faced severe criticism by Netflix users for portraying certain scenes against societal norms, it is still a commercial success on paper.
The following are tweets from some of those who watched ‘Animal’ on Netflix:
