SonyLiv just released its first look of “Freedom At Midnight”, with its three brave warriors in it.
Based on 1975’s political book by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre, Sony Liv is launching their much anticipated series with the same name “Freedom At Midnight”.
The political drama delves into the time of India’s independence and how the British coloniser partitioned the country into India and Pakistan and several other critical aspects of that time period are woven in the plot.
The book is based on the true events surrounding that time period, where Lord Mountbatten was the last Viceroy of British India and it goes up until the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. The story unveils many hidden tragic events which took place during the course of that time.
Chirag Vohra who was in SonyLiv’s famous series “Scam 1992” played the role of Mahatma Gandhi, and Sidhant Gupta who gained a huge amount of appreciation after prime’s “Jubilee” played the role of Jawaharlal Nehru and the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is played by Rajendra Chawla who can be seen in Netflix’s “Loop Lapeta”.
The first look from this series came out and in this photo we can see the looks of these three pivotal characters. Based on pure look tests the portrayal of these characters are top notch. Sidhant Gupta, from Jubilee to this political series, we must say that the leap is huge.
Head of SonyLiv expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the team of “Freedom At Midnight”. According to him, this series is a very ambitious project of SonyLiv, as they tried to put forth the politically tumultuous situation from the pages to screen. The history is being told via this series.
Nikkhil Advani who served as a director of this series said this series is the result of unwavering dedication and relentless determination, This show is a profound tribute to the luminaries of our freedom movement Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel”.
Adaptations are a hot cake these days, but adapting a novel and adapting a Non Fiction, moreover a political masterpiece, is a tough nut to crack.
