Netflix’s blockbuster series, “Monster,” is gearing up for its second season with powerhouse additions to the cast. Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny are set to star in the anthology’s upcoming season, titled “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story.”
The focus of the season revolves around the infamous Menéndez brothers, Erik (played by Cooper Koch) and Lyle (played by Nicholas Alexander Chavez). The brothers gained notoriety after being convicted of murdering their parents, José (Bardem) and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menéndez (Sevigny), in 1996. The narrative explores the brothers’ claims of enduring years of mental and physical abuse, while authorities argued they committed the murders for financial gain.
Created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, the first season of “Monster” delved into the chilling story of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and became a massive success for Netflix. The anthology format has since been renewed for two more seasons.
The cast of the show is extremely promising. Also, the premise of the show is something that resonates with the audience. The fact that the story is based on real-life characters makes it even more horrifying. The insane success of the first part makes the show highly anticipated and they have a responsibility to not screw up the second part. Let’s hope that the show comes out to be good. Stay tuned to Binged for whatever updates that come our way.
