From creating documentaries on musical legends such as Bob Dylan, and global musical stars such as Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, among others, Netflix has now turned its attention to bringing something for Indian fans of Indian musical icons. The streaming giant has just announced a documentary film on Honey Singh, the Indian rap and hip-hop performer with a massive fan following. The upcoming documentary will recount the rise, fall and resurrection of Honey Singh, his good times and bad times, and all that the performer has stood for in the Indian music space.
Netflix India has not shared any release date for its Honey Singh documentary yet, except for a cryptic ‘Coming Soon’. We don’t even have a confirmed title for the documentary yet. The streaming platform has, however, released a short teaser for the documentary film, which features Honey Singh in all his glory. The artist introduces his documentary himself, spouting entertaining lines – all in his trademark rap. He even hints, via his rap, that the Honey Singh documentary will be a no-holds-barred account, which will also focus on the rapper’s struggles with drug abuse.
The bare-it-all documentary will recount the life of Yo Yo Honey Singh from his rise, sudden disappearance at the peak of his career, his controversies, his hit songs, and much more. Yo Yo Honey Singh himself will take his fans through the unseen and unheard chapters of his life, making raw and candid revelations about the highs and lows of his life.
Netflix’s Yo Yo Honey Singh documentary is produced by Sikhya Entertainment, who are fresh from their Oscar win for ‘The Elephant Whisperers’, also on Netflix. The documentary is directed by Mozez Singh.
