Netflix’s Citation Is A Hard-Hitting Movie Everyone Must Watch

Violence against women knows no boundaries. This isn’t limited to just a fraction of the world. It is spread out around the world, like cancer. This violence is the theme of story telling behind the new Nigerian Netflix movie, “Citation“. Citation is set to be released on November 6th, 2020 worldwide streaming on Netflix.

The story unfolds as a bright, young woman Moremi with a promising career ahead of her is seen catching the attention of the new young star teacher. A French teacher by profession, the young man seems to be fond of our student here. The student herself, bright in every aspect isn’t seen as failing at all. Sadly, things don’t go as planned. The girl who idolized her French teacher faces a grave situation ahead of her which involves both the parties but the professor seems to be least bothered by it.

An allegation of rape attempt brings the world down for the students of the school and teachers equally. Where Moremi has taken it into her hands to bring herself justice against the ill deed against her, it isn’t the same when she is presenting herself in front of the school committee, where teacher Lucien, sits on the other side of the table.

When she is narrating her story to the committee, she faces allegations herself of not being completely truthful, of framing the teacher after he offered her his sincerity. She is puzzled but when she sees the uproar, the students that are standing with her she decides to fight back even when Lucien calls every imagination of hers a “figment of her memory”.

This Nigerian movie brings an age-old crime and harassment at the place of study to the forefront. The world isn’t unknown to such cases. An issue that has gone on and on for way too long now is shown to be portrayed very well in the movie. Starring Jimmy Jean Louis, Temi Otedola, Adjetey Anang, along with others. This movie is supposed to strike cords with many.

Now the question is how well will it be portrayed and what is the ultimate truth. Is it a figment or is it a reality?
