Globally renowned movies database entertainment portal IMDb houses a list/widget of the most anticipated new Indian movies and shows (both theatrical and OTT) that ascertains the real-time popularity of that title. This is determined by the number of pageviews these titles are generating on IMDb. Each title is then ranked by IMDb as per the aggregate number of pageviews.
The topmost spot on the IMDb list has been bagged by Lokesh Kanagraj’s action thriller movie ‘Leo’ starring Vijay and Trisha in the lead roles. However, like last week, the name of ‘Salaar’ is again missing from the IMDb top ten list today probably because of the release delay.
On the second spot of the IMDb list is the third instalment of YRF’s Tiger film series ‘Tiger 3’ starring Salman Khan as the daredevil spy and Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo as Pathaan. Helmed by Maneesh Sharma, the story is about how Tiger is wrongfully accused as a traitor and makes it his mission to clear his name.
And the third most anticipated Indian title on the IMDb list is the survival thriller ‘Mission Raniganj’ starring Akshay Kumar in the role of a brilliant IIT engineer who devises a plan to rescue a large group of miners trapped in the Raniganj coalfields.
Besides big-ticket theatrical releases, three Indian OTT titles have also made it to the IMDb top 10 list this time. Two titles namely Vishal Bhardwaj’s spy thriller movie ‘Khufiya’ and the survival drama series ‘Kaala Paani’ will be soon released on Netflix. Besides, there is Milan Luthria’s period action thriller series ‘Sultan of Delhi’ on Disney+ Hotstar. So, in a way, OTT has made a comeback of sorts this week on IMDb.
