Netflix Grabs Streaming Rights For Still-To-Release Chinese Fantasy Film ‘Super Me’

Netflix has swooped in to grab the worldwide streaming rights for as yet unreleased Chinese fantasy drama film, ‘Super Me’. The film hits Chinese theatres at the end of this week, that is on April 9. Netflix’s acquisition of the upcoming film follows its other high-profile Chinese buys – both Yin And Yang Master films, and the animated New Gods: Nezha Reborn. The two Yin And Yang Master films have already premiered on the Netflix platform, while its third Chinese acquisition, New Gods: Nezha Reborn, will premiere this Monday on Netflix.

The streaming rights acquired by Netflix for Super Me exclude mainland China, former Yugoslavia and the Indian subcontinent.

Super Me is a fantasy film that centres on the superhero powers possessed by the primary protagonist, Sang Yu. He possesses a special super power that can turn his dreams into reality. The narrative focuses on how the protagonist uses the super powers to his own advantage. Things take a turn for the worse when a ruthless gangster tries to use Sang Yu’s powers for his own benefit. The film stars Darren Wang, Song Jia, Cao Bingkun and Wu Gang in pivotal roles. It is directed by Zhang Chong, who had earlier directed 2019 film, The Fourth Wall.
