Netflix has greenlit an animated “Clash of Clans” series. The events of the show are expected to take place within the universe of Supercell’s Clash Royale and Clash of Clans. The project has now entered the pre-production stage.
The upcoming animated series will revolve around a determined but hard-headed Barbarian who must form a group of misfits to protect his village and navigate the politics of war.
Fletcher Moules will serve as the series showrunner. He is known for directing the original Clash of Clans animated videos for Supercell. Icon Creative Studio will handle the animation, while the writing team will be led by head writer Ron Weiner (best known for 30 Rock, Silicon Valley, Futurama, and Arrested Development).
According to Supercell, Clash of Clans and Clash Royale have collectively achieved over four billion downloads and an astounding 180 billion hours of gameplay worldwide since Clash of Clans launched globally on iOS and Android in 2012.
Netflix has recently ramped up its animated series orders. This includes Mating Season, an adult animated comedy from the creators of Big Mouth, which is currently preparing for its eighth and final season.
Additionally, the streamer has Long Story Short in the pipeline, created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg and other team members from BoJack Horseman. This new series, featuring a main cast including Abbi Jacobson, Max Greenfield, and Nicole Byer, is set to premiere on Netflix on August 22. Stay tuned for more updates.
