Netflix is going all out to establish them as the leading streaming service in the largest continent that is Asia. It is streaming lots of Indian, Korean, Japanese, Filipino and Thai content that can cater towards the people of the several regions of Asia. Another epic area of content is coming from the Middle-Eastern countries, like Turkey and UAE. They have all kinds of content that covers the most famous genres out there that people love to watch.
With the coming year, Netflix anyway has promised to have a blast of a year with upcoming and much awaited international projects but also contents that are regional to a specific area, for example for the whole of Asia with an absolute variety. Amongst all these, is the upcoming Turkish action and black comedy series 50M2, which basically is read as 50 metre square.
This is a series that tells the story of a hitman, who suddenly needs to be on the run to save his life from his own unknown past. Something that he never planned or at least wasn’t aware of. He comes to a neighbourhood to save himself and takes shelter in a tailor’s house. He takes the identity of the tailor’s dead son. It is that place where he has to live, that is a fifty square metre area and he has to start his life afresh and plan every step of his to be able to move out of whatever mess he is in.
This goes on, until he starts noticing that things aren’t exactly like it is being portrayed in the neighbourhood. Something bigger is out there and that will need his full on attention to fight back. With hints of jokes, a bunch of dark and funny lines and hell lot of action, gun firing and jumping around this series seems like it won’t disappoint.
The series is helmed by the highly talented director Selcuk Aydemir, with writer/ director Burak Aksak. This eight episode series stars Engin Ozturk, Aybuke Pusat, Kursat Alniacik, Cengiz Bozkurt, Tolga Tekin and others. The show will be globally released on the 27th of January. It was supposed to be released in 2020, but many activities were pushed back due to the pandemic.
