Netflix Has A New Number One Show, And It’s Declared A Mustwatch!

Netflix Has A New Number One Show, And It’s Declared A Mustwatch!

Streaming giant Netflix has just got its newest Number One show, and it has already been declared a mustwatch by both critics and audiences. The show in question is ‘The Night Agent’, and it is a spy thriller set in the same mould as ’24’ and ‘Bodyguard’.

Netflix is currently enjoying several successes amongst its recent crop of shows. The month of March alone saw a bunch of much-awaited shows premiering on Netflix, as well as raking in the numbers. Shadow And Bone Season 2, You Season 4 Part 2, The Glory Part 2, Sex/Life Season 2, all premiered on Netflix in March, and are raking in the numbers.

However, three days ago, Netflix premiered an intriguing spy series on the platform, on 23rd March, to be precise. Titled ‘The Night Agent‘, it is a spy thriller set in the backdrop of the White House. And guess what — within days of release, ‘The Night Agent’ has already shot up the charts with lightning speed, to land at the Number One spot on the Netflix Top Ten in 88 countries of the world!

‘The Night Agent’ has all the elements that make a spy thriller a gripping watch – FBI agents, the White House, conspiracy theories, and more. The series centres on an FBI agent, who has the job of monitoring an emergency line at the White House. One night, the FBI agent answers a call that plunges him into a deadly conspiracy involving a mole at the White House. The series is created by Shawn Ryan, based on the novel of the same name by Matthew Quirk, and is directed by Seth Gordon and Mallicent Shelton.

Gabriel Basso stars in ‘The Night Agent’ as primary protagonist, FBI Agent Peter Sutherland. The series also stars Luciane Buchanan, Hong Chau, D. B. Woodside, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Eve Harlow, Phoenix Raei, Enrique Murciano, Sarah Desjardins, among others.

The official synopsis of ‘The Night Agent’ reads, “Low-level FBI agent, Peter Sutherland, works in the basement of the White House manning a phone that never rings–until the night it does–propelling him into a conspiracy that leads all the way to the Oval Office.”

Ever since ‘The Night Agent’ hit Netflix this week, critics at prestigious publications have praised the premise of the series.
The critic at Variety writes, “The Night Agent sparks with curiosity and intrigue, a richly detailed show that propels viewers forward with a relentless pace.”

Collider says about ‘The Night Agent’, “In the pantheon of action-thrillers on streaming, The Night Agent is definitely one of the more memorable ones”.

CNN says, “Netflix might have cracked the code for another “24”-like franchise with “The Night Agent,” a twisty thriller, crisply told and smartly cast”.

The Guardian also praises ‘The Night Agent’ by writing, “It is propulsive, slicker-than-slick fun, with every hairpin turn perfectly negotiated.”

Not just critics, even Netflix users have flocked to social media to sing praises of ‘The Night Agent’.

One viewer writes on Twitter, “Done with 10 episodes… 8.5/10. If you’re into, spy, thriller, action, it’s a must watch. I really hope there is a season 2.”

Another user says, “Bingeing this, and my goodness! It is incredibly good! The Night Agent on Netflix is good af so far if anybody needs a new show to watch”.

Yet another Netflix subscriber writes this about ‘The Night Agent’ – “The Night Agent is a must watch, the best series to ever happen on Netflix in my opinion. I’m on episode two but I’m hooked!!!”
