The highly anticipated supernatural horror web series, ‘Hellbound’, dropped its trailer an hour back… and it is brilliant. And scary. Based on the webtoon series of the same name, this much awaited South Korean web series released its promotional video on Netflix’s official YouTube channel. Check out the trailer at the end of this article.
According to the synopsis of the series, fantastical, angelic creatures spear out of nowhere and drag people to hell. While these creatures look far from angelic (in the trailer), the dragging to hell part looks to be true and the main theme behind the web series. The trailer starts off with a man who finds out that his death has been predicted while sitting beside a lake. What follows is a heart pumping, adrenaline rushing montage of short clips that interchange between incredulous and horrifying. It turns out that anyone who hears a prediction about their own death will get killed/vapourized, by the aforementioned “angelic” creatures. What is even scarier, is that these creatures do not wait till night time, and are instead, ready to drag the ones with the death sentences to hell, in broad daylight.
Still, this series looks quite interesting and with the increase in popularity of South Korean web series thanks to Netflix’s ‘Squid Game’ and ‘My Name’ (which also released on Netflix last month), we have a feeling that this series will get a decent viewing around the globe as well – at least during the first week. While the CGI looks a bit dodgy and the supernatural element may be a bit off putting to some, the trailer shows some real promise. The entire show is also only six episodes long, so it can be binged quickly too.
All six episodes of ‘Hellbound’ will premiere on Netflix on November 19th 2021.
