Like we have said earlier, 2022 has been quite exciting so far for Indian movie buffs as fans have witnessed the release of some fine films recently. And amongst those is the critically acclaimed Telugu language romantic comedy movie ‘Ante Sundaraniki’, which was released in theatres on 10th June 2022. A month later, the Nani and Nazriya Nazim starrer movie started streaming on the Netflix OTT platform from 10th July onwards.
And interestingly, soon after the film’s release on Netflix, ‘Ante Sundaraniki’ was observed to be included amongst the top 50 international movies list on the Auckland-based movies-centric social platform Letterboxd. The movie currently holds 43rd rank on the coveted Letterboxd list comprising top 50 feature and documentary films released in the year 2022 from across the globe.
‘Ante Sundaraniki’ couldn’t exactly set the box office on fire after its theatrical release but the film has been given a thumbs-up by the OTT audiences after its Netflix release. This aptly demonstrates the national and international reach of the streaming giant and reflects on the rather different sensibilities of the OTT audiences. And it seems that it’s because of the movie’s Netflix release that ‘Ante Sundaraniki’ has made it to the top international movies list on Letterboxd.
Besides ‘Ante Sundaraniki’, other Indian films on the Letterboxd 2022 list are ‘Vikram’ (Rank 14), ‘RRR’ (Rank 7), ‘Kadaisi Vivasayi’ (Rank 3), ‘Pada’ (Rank 31), and ‘Badhaai Do’ (Rank 46).
The top two films from 2022 on Letterboxd are Peter Jackson’s ‘The Beatles: Get Back – The Rooftop Concert’ (Rank 1) and the widely admired multiverse movie ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ (Rank 2). While Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and the DC superhero movie ‘The Batman’ have bagged Rank 6 and Rank 9, respectively.

Helmed by Vivek Athreya, the romantic comedy movie ‘Ante Sundaraniki’ revolves around the story of a Hindu boy Sundar (played by Nani) from a conservative Brahmin family and a Christian girl Leela (Nazriya Nazim) who are in love with each other. But they must convince their respective families for their inter-caste marriage but eventually find themselves in an amusing web of lies and the situation grows more complex.
