Half of 2025 is gone, and there are some important insights. We must say that the platform did not behave the way it should have. There were hardly any good documentaries, hardly any good series apart from Black Warrant, and let us even forget about films. Before we even begin with the analysis, let us have a look at the important releases.
Original Series
Black Warrant, The Roshans, The Greatest Rivalry; India vs Pakistan, C.I.D. Season 2, Dabba Cartel, Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, The Royals, Rana Naidu Season 2, The Greatest Indian Kapil Show Season 3
Original Films
Dhoom Dhaam, Nadaaniyan, TEST, Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins
Important Licensed Films
Pushpa 2: The Reloaded, Daaku Maharaaj, Perusu, Court: A State vs Nobody, Chhava, Sikandar, HIT: The Third Case, Jaat, Raid 2
Analysis
Let’s begin with a series. We got 9 Indian series in total in the first half of 2025. The outstanding one is Black Warrant. It is an amazing series done right and it was the perfect start to the year by Netflix India.
But then came a series of mediocre to bad series. None other than Rana Naidu Season 2 stood out. They were either bad or at max tolerable.
Khakee: The Bengal Chapter was a major disappointment, and let’s not even talk about The Royals. Even Dabba Cartel was just average.
The condition of original films is way worse.
Dhoom Dhaam is barely good. But we won’t say that it is a bad film altogether. But the others are just intolerable. All the other three films are easily three of the worst films we have seen this year. Netflix India missed a major major mark in films this year.
They are totally clueless about what to do. Let’s see if Aap Jaisa Koi breaks the curse next week.
Then comes a lot of licensed films. We have only mentioned a few important licensed films. Pushpa 2: The Reloaded was a huge success. It gave Netflix the push in the beginning of the year. Jaat, HIT: The Third Case and Perusu were also quite big on the platform.
Overall, this has been a very disappointing first half on the platform. We can’t give them more than 4 out of 10 for this.
